When the Holy Spirit lives in us, leads us, and serves as a witness to our identity, we become aware of who we are in Christ and can live into that identity.

As we navigate finding our identity in who God made us to be we can look to Jesus, His understanding, and the walking out of His identity. When Jesus is central to our lives, our true selves will become evident.

Names carry significance. This is why we sometimes call attempts to craft our own identity, “making a name for ourself.” But there is a danger in making your own name, and there is blessing and fruitfulness in accepting the name that God makes for you.

Identity cannot be found on our own. We were created in community and our identity can only be found and understood when we are a part of the community God intended for us.

What do we use to define or determine our identity? We are finite and limited, unable to create our own identity. We must shake off the false identities we have been taught in our lives and allow God’s word to define us. We are redeemed, we are His, we are precious, we are honored, we are valuable, we are loved.
